This set is for the annual Chili Cook-Off and Cornbread Contest at our church. We are on the Fellowship (aka social) Committee, which means we get to plan these parties and I take the lead on the cook-off. Every year at our planning meeting we say, “This is the easy event because everyone else provides the food – we just have to show up.” Then as the day gets closer I remember how much behind the scenes stuff actually has to take place to make a cook-off happen! I also plan this same event (as well as several other cook-offs) at my work so luckily I just get to re-use all of the materials and don’t have to keep re-creating the wheel.

 

Here you’ll see all of the materials we need to pull-off our cook-off. There’s of course the invitation but we also need score cards, ingredient listings (no one wants the surprise of thinking they’re tasting something mild when really it’s 5-alarm chili!), voting signs, and certificates for our winners. Once I get the materials made for about 20-ish entries (give or take depending on the year) and about 80-100 tasters, things get much “easier”!!
